The preparatory conferences for the 2nd Forum of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) continue, where a member of the senior committee of the 2nd Forum announced that the 9th preparatory conference will be held in Raparin Administration.
Stran Abdullah, a member of the senior committee of the 2nd PUK Forum, told PUKMEDIA: "The senior committee will convene to determine the date of the 9th conference following the eighth conference in Kirkuk."
He added: "The senior committee will decide the date of the 9th conference, which will take place in the Independent Administration of Raparin, and will also discuss the outcomes of the conferences held in Mosul, Duhok, Erbil, Koya, Garmian, Sulaymaniyah, Halabja, and Kirkuk."
Furthermore, he said: "The conferences' objectives are to reorganise the work for the future and debate about the PUK's views and preparedness for the next stage. Attending the conferences will be PUK cadres, as well as notable members of the various communities."
"The PUK Forum is a new party experience in the history of the political movement in Kurdistan, Iraq, and even the region, as the PUK wants its cadres to be the first to participate in draughting its intellectual and political framework and struggle," he stated.
Moreover, he said: "The 8th conference in Kirkuk was very importance, as the PUK places a high value on the province. Every PUK cadre enthusiastically took part and shared their thoughts and ideas to help shape the party's next programme."
The 9th conference, which will be in the Raparin Administration, follows a series of preparatory conferences in Mosul, Badinan, Koya, Erbil, Garmian-Khanaqin, Halabja-Sharazur, Sulaymaniyah, and Kirkuk. The conferences are a part of the preparations for the the main event, which is the PUK Forum, during which the party's policies will be reviewed.
The 2nd PUK Forum, which will be held under the slogan "A new vision, with strength, progress, and services," consists of these smaller preparatory conferences, during which intensive debates and dialogues are held to prepare for the themes to be deliberated upon during the broader forum.
The forum aims to develop and debate a new vision for the PUK's preparations for the next phase of political work and governance in the Kurdistan Region. It also seeks to enhance the PUK's position and influence both within the Region and internationally, by formulating strategies to adapt to the ongoing changes and developments.
According to the bylaws of the PUK, the party must hold periodic forums to prepare for a new stage of political life and governance. The 1st PUK Forum was launched on 12 March 2022 under the supervision of Qubad Talabani and concluded on 31 May 2022. It played a key role in shaping the party’s policies across various sectors and became a cornerstone of the PUK’s broader strategy.
