The seventh preparatory conference for PUK Forum in Sulaymaniyah.
The seventh preparatory conference for the second Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Forum commenced recently in Sulaymaniyah.
At the start of the conference, Ziyad Jabbar, the Head of the Sulaymaniyah Organisations Centre for the PUK, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the attendees and commended the efforts of the Supreme Committee of the second PUK Forum for organising conferences across all regions of the Kurdistan Region.
In his speech, which was covered by PUKMEDIA, Ziyad Jabbar remarked: "The late President Mam Jalal and his comrades established the PUK with a range of objectives, initiating a new revolution for our people and making significant sacrifices. During the most challenging times, our party led the struggle, established a system of government and democracy in the Kurdistan Region, and preserved Kurdish rights in the permanent Iraqi Constitution."
He continued: "Now, under the leadership of President Bafel Jalal Talabani, the PUK has the capacity to guide the current phase and represent all the people of Kurdistan. The primary aim of the second Forum is to address the new changes occurring in the Middle East." He explained further: "We must adopt a new approach to respond to new developments and meet the challenges and current situations that arise. Today, we are listening to the opinions and suggestions of all comrades and cadres regarding the PUK’s policy and future direction."
Following this, Dr. Yousif Goran, a member of the PUK's Political Bureau, delivered a speech on behalf of the forum's Supreme Committee. He stated: "Today, we gather at the seventh conference of the second PUK Forum to responsibly present our proposals in all areas." He added: "We are entering a new phase, and the second Forum represents a significant and crucial initiative at this stage. We are working to expand discussions and consider the proposals and opinions of all cadres. This forum is essential in strengthening the sense of responsibility among all PUK cadres and members."
He also said: "We aim to present proposals and a unified policy on the critical issues and changes occurring in the region, while also preparing to confront the challenges ahead. The forum will play a key role in fostering party unity and presenting projects to enhance the foundations of party work."
Mr. Goran concluded: "The PUK has a clear and defined policy and has made significant sacrifices for its national and pan-Arab positions. New challenges and developments have emerged. We must engage in comprehensive dialogue and discussions, submitting our proposals to the Supreme Committee of the Second Forum."
