U.S. Condemns Attack on Khor Mor Gas Field

The United States of America (U.S.) condemned the drone attack on the Khor Mor gas field, urging the Iraqi Government to hold perpetrators accountable.

"We condemn the attack on the Khor Mor gas field and urge the Government of Iraq to hold the perpetrators accountable," the U.S. Embassy Baghdad wrote on X on Tuesday, 4 February 2025.

The Khormor gas field was targeted in a drone attack on Sunday, 2 February 2025. According to Kurdistan Counter Terrorism Group (CTG), intelligence sources suggest the drone was launched from the Bashir area by outlaw groups. The CTG reassured citizens that security forces remain vigilant and will continue to monitor these violations, providing updates as new information becomes available.

The Iraqi Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani, has directed the formation of a technical security committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding a recent fire incident at the Khormor field in Sulaymaniyah Governorate.
