Al-Hakim: President Mam Jalal Was a Symbol of Unity

Ammar al-Hakim visits Mam Jalal’s grave in Sulaymaniyah.

Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, leader of the National Wisdom (Hikma) Movement, arrived in Sulaymaniyah on the evening of Tuesday, 7 January 2024. He was welcomed at Sulaymaniyah International Airport by several members of the Political Bureau and Leadership Council of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).

Upon his arrival, al-Hakim visited the grave of President Mam Jalal, where he was received by Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Sabir, Chairman of the President Jalal Talabani Foundation and the Secretariat of President Mam Jalal’s office.

After laying a wreath at the grave, he wrote the following in the memory book: “We used to visit Mam Jalal during his lifetime and now visit his grave following his passing, whenever we come to Sulaymaniyah Governorate, as a testament to the high regard and respect we hold for this Iraqi Kurdish national leader. His immortal contributions to resisting dictatorship and establishing a new democratic system remain a source of inspiration. He was a symbol of national unity and a towering figure we take great pride in. This visit also serves as a reminder of the historical ties we share with His Excellency and our brothers in the PUK.”
