Italy Reaffirms Commitment to Peshmerga Training and Continued Military Support

Vice President's meeting with Commander of the Italian Special Forces.

On Wednesday, 18th December 2024, Vice President Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa met with Captain Nicolò Vinella, Commander of the Italian Special Forces responsible for training the Peshmerga, along with his accompanying delegation.

In the meeting, the Vice President commended Italy's strong relations with the Kurdistan Region, particularly in regard to the Italian military support in enhancing military capabilities, the establishment of a military base for Peshmerga training, and the joint operations carried out by the Peshmerga, Iraqi army, and Italian Global Coalition forces against ISIS in the region.

The military delegation emphasised the ongoing relationship and continued military support for the Peshmerga forces, aimed at enhancing their military capabilities. They also reaffirmed their commitment to the ongoing training of the Peshmerga forces.
