KRG Planning Minister: Kurdistan Region Census Nears Completion

The Minister of Planning in the Kurdistan Regional Government, Dr. Dara Rashid has announced the completion rate of the population census, emphasising that the process will continue until every family has been registered.
During a press conference, Minister Rashid stated that the general population census in the Kurdistan Region had proceeded smoothly, with a completion rate of 99.98%. He noted that the process would reach 100% within the remaining hours.
Dr. Rashid further explained that family registration in Sulaymaniyah had reached 100%, while Erbil stood at 99.99% and Duhok at 99.5%. Additionally, he reported that the registration of buildings in the Kurdistan Region had reached 99.92%, with rates of 99.90% in Erbil, 99.99% in Sulaymaniyah, and 99.87% in Duhok.
The Minister highlighted that following the completion of the first and second phases of the general census, subsequent phases would commence, focusing on questions concerning the lives and livelihoods of citizens.
The 2024 general population and housing census is the first to take place in Iraq since 1997. Previously, the Spokesman of Iraqi Ministry of Planning stated that they will announce the census results next week.
