During the meeting held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, attended by Shorsh Ismail, the Minister of Peshmerga, and Lieutenant Colonel Bakhtiar Mohammed, the Secretary General of the Peshmerga Ministry, Qubad Talabani congratulated Colonel Ritter on his appointment as the new commander of German forces in the Kurdistan Region. He wished him success in his role and expressed his full readiness to provide any necessary assistance and support to the German forces in the region.
The DPM expressed his gratitude to the German government and parliament for agreeing to extend the presence of German troops in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq. He also commended Germany for its continued cooperation and support to the Kurdistan Region, particularly in the fight against terrorism and the ongoing reform process within the Peshmerga forces.
Another key topic of the meeting was the challenges hindering the reform process in the Ministry of Peshmerga. In this regard, Qubad Talabani stressed the importance of the next government offering strong support to the reform efforts within the Peshmerga forces.
