Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, welcomed Albrecht von Wittke, German Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, together with his accompanying military delegation.
Their discussion encompassed recent political and security advancements in Iraq and the surrounding region, Germany's diplomatic ties with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the outcomes of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections, the establishment of the new Kurdish cabinet, and the unresolved matters between Erbil and Baghdad.
The Vice President commended the contributions of the German military to the international coalition against the Islamic State (ISIS) and their support for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
He highlighted the Kurdistan parliamentary elections, their outcomes, and the establishment of a new government for the Kurdistan Region, expressing hope that the new cabinet will be constituted imminently, prioritising national interests and the welfare of the people.
The guest delegation reiterated the ongoing development of their nation's relations with the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
They commended the Kurdistan Region's presidency for its initiatives aimed at resolving issues and deemed the dialogue between the political parties in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region crucial for addressing the challenges confronting the political process and the agreements between Erbil and Baghdad.
