Prepared land plots.
Around 500 families of fallen martyrs will soon receive land plots in Sulaymaniyah, as stated by the Director General of Martyrs and Anfal Victims Affairs in Sulaymaniyah, who indicated that the distribution will occur via a lottery system.
Adib Latif, Director General of Martyrs and Anfal Victims Affairs of Sulaymaniyah, told PUKMEDIA that preparations are underway for giving land plots to the families of the martyrs, and following the organisation of the beneficiaries' names, the distribution of land will start next week.
The land area given to each employee, who a relative of a martyr, will be 200 square meters. The allocation will occur through a lottery system, supplemented by points, with three criteria established: years of service, number of family members, and site of residence.
"The Sulaymaniyah Municipality has divided the land plots, and the relatives of the martyrs listed will receive the land benefits. In the initial phase, the land will be allocated to around 500 families of the martyrs," Latif stated.
According to Latif, the decision includes those mentioned in Kurdistan Region's Council of Ministers' prior decision.
The General Directorate of Martyrs and Anfal Victims Affairs of Sulaymaniyah's list has 43,000 civil servants who are families of martyrs, and to date, 22,000 plots of land have been allocated to families of martyrs and political prisoners. In March 2024, the Kurdistan Region's Council of Ministers resolved to allocate land to civil servants and pensioners who have not benefited before.
