The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) has confirmed that the special voting process for the Kurdistan Parliamentary elections is proceeding smoothly.

During a press conference in Erbil, Judge Omar Ahmed, the Chairman of IHEC's Board of Commissioners stated: "The electoral process is going well, and the devices used for voting, prevent fraud."

He added that "there are instances of fingerprint bypassing, which constitutes a very small percentage, while the vast majority of voters are not affected at all." He noted that those whose fingerprints were bypassed were identified during the updating of their cards, as their thumbprints are unreadable.

Judge Omar stressed: "Mobile phones are not allowed in the polling stations," urging voters to remain calm to ensure they have sufficient time to cast their votes.

This morning, the special voting process for the elections of the sixth term of the Kurdistan Parliament commenced, with participation from the Peshmerga forces and security personnel. Polling stations opened at 7 am and will close at 6 pm.
