"Martyrs of October 16" Section to Open at Amnasuraka Museum

In honour of the brave Peshmergas who gave their lives for the country on 16th October 2017, a section titled "Martyrs of October 16" will be inaugurated in the National Museum of Amnasuraka in Sulaymaniyah Province.

According to Ako Gharib, the Director of Amnasuraka Museum, who spoke to Kurdistani Nwe, "We have been collecting information and photographs of the Peshmergas who sacrificed their lives for the country on 16th October for some time, as part of our national duty, in order to display them appropriately in the Amnasuraka Museum."

He stated: "Today, Wednesday 16th October 2024, a special ceremony will be held in the presence of the relatives of the martyrs, featuring the first batch of photos and information about 38 martyrs who defended the country until their last breath, as a sign of loyalty and respect.

"For instance, a photograph of martyr Hazhar will be displayed; he was killed on 16th October when a tank passed over him," he added.

Gharib went on to say that they are actively gathering photos and information of all the Peshmergas who were killed on 16th October and in the following days, to ensure they can be displayed in this section of the museum.
