The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan List 129 has a special message to the resilient people of Erbil, voters of Soran and Koya administrations and all districts and villages of Erbil province.
Message of PUK List 129 for Erbil Constituency
- The resilient masses of Erbil, the citadel and the minaret
- Voters of Soran administrations and Koya and all districts and villages of Erbil province
For years, you have endured discrimination, injustice, power monopolisation, suppression of free expression, and an authoritarian administration. To maintain the unity and integrity of the Kurdistan Region, we have been compelled to refrain from publicly disclosing our viewpoints and concerns through the media. Consequently, we view today as an opportunity to express our stance on the oppression, injustice, and complex administrative circumstances in Erbil province to you patriots and the broader Kurdish populace.
Sadly, Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, suffers from water scarcity and drought in summer, while in winter, it is drowned by rainfall and flooding. The authentic people is stripped of fundamental rights and freedoms, unable to express their grievances through protests, strikes, or boycotts, nor can they peacefully and civilly assert their rights before government bodies, political party offices, or international organisations. Erbilers are now regarded as guests in their own city, as outsiders have taken control and perceive themselves as homeowners owing to demographic shifts.
In every part of the globe, demonstrations, protests, and pressure on authorities consistently occur in capital cities; nevertheless, in our capital, all forms of civic demonstrations are forbidden, and even peaceful assemblies are destined for repression.
In democratic systems and the capitals of democratic, multi-party parliamentary nations, a joint administration exists. In the capital of our nation, one party has monopolised control over local administration, and even in districts where they have failed, they deny successful parties the opportunity to govern locally or to have representatives within the institutions.
The evacuation of villages and the expulsion of citizens from villages in Erbil province due to military operations in Balakayaty and Soran is a dangerous phenomenon and must end, as the persistence of this situation jeopardises the Kurdistan Region's future.
Due to this one-party rule, the villages of Erbil are increasingly becoming deserted each year, resulting in the displacement of people there. The city is experiencing a rise in poverty and unemployment. Numerous villages in the Bradost, Balakayaty, Soran, and Sidakan regions have become engulfed in conflict, which is progressively expanding deeper into the province annually. Thus, we, as the PUK, will not remain silent in the face of this distressing scenario confronting our province.
For this purpose, we have developed a thorough and suitable programme that covers all sectors, including administrative, political, security, economic, prosperity, environmental, health, education and higher education, agricultural, women, and youth, and more. The triumph of the PUK 129 will resolve this undesirable situation, in Erbil and will allow its residents to start living a peaceful and free life characterised by peace, prosperity, and acceptance among one another.
People of Erbil, Soran, Koya, Rawanduz, Balakayaty, Khoshnawati, Shaqlawa, Khabat, Taqtaq...
You deserve a better life... You deserve more services... You deserve greater respect... You deserve lasting peace and stability. Through your votes, determination, and support, we can correct the governance course in the capital of the Kurdistan Region, ensuring freedom, peace, services, and prosperity for all cities, towns, and villages within Erbil province, thereby establishing Erbil of citadel and minaret as the capital for all Kurdish people with all of its diverse communities and views.
- Support us to implement the multilateral program devised by the PUK for the continued revitalisation of Erbil province, which encompasses the interests of all classes.
In conclusion, we declare: Erbil is resilient, and by supporting a force like the PUK and List 129 to succeed in the elections, it will step towards correcting the course of governance in the Kurdistan Region.
