PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani.
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), attended the 6th campaign rally of the PUK List 129 in Duhok, where he announced, "Our rival is terrified."
The sixth campaign rally of PUK 129 occurred in Duhok on Monday, October 14, 2024, during which the candidates of PUK 129 were introduced and PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani addressed the people of the Kurdistan Region.
President Bafel said in his speech: "I am pleased to be at the service of the people of Badinan today. My message to Duhok, Badinan, and all these oppressed regions is special. I will try to speak in the Badini accent today. I want to tell you that our rival is terrified."
He added: "Upon my arrival today, I observed individuals adorned with Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) attire and flags, chanting "Long live President Bafel. I asked them to hush, or they would face exclusion from universities and employment opportunities the following day as this is the circumstance that has arisen in this region. Individuals not affiliated with the KDP will face disappearance and employment deprivation."
President Bafel told the people of Duhok: “We are here in Badinan to overthrow the dictatorial regime and restore freedom. They fear you; they fear the people's votes. Nobody believes the acting they do. We have arrived to save you from this police-like regime and to save you from those prisons that no one knows where they are. If you are a writer, you will be imprisoned. So I ask, "Is this a government?"
They should be ashamed of themselves
Regarding unity, President Bafel said: "They preach about the unity of Kurdistan, yet they lack an understanding of true unity. When have they talked about the union of the four parts of Kurdistan? They sold the Yezidis out. Is this the unity of Kurdistan? They should be ashamed. Four hundred of our villages are deserted due to the actions they take with the invaders and due to their selling of your land. I asked Mr. Massoud to meet with Comrade Mazloum Kobane to avert today's tragedy and to start a peace process; but they were unable to do so and declined."
They are terrified
“Yesterday, I wore a T-shirt printed with the phrase 'take from them everything,' which crippled them," he said.
President Bafel told the rivals, "Our nation harbours no fear of you. Fear has gone. Today, fear is our ally. The entire people of Badinan oppose this. People affiliated with the KDP have reached out to me and told me that they will vote for the PUK, conveying their gratitude."
"They are terrified of this," he said, referring to his rivals in the KDP.
“Mam Jalal made Duhok a province. They have done nothing but create a big difference between the rich and the poor. Therefore, with your support, your vote, and the support of God, we will send them all back home. Only the PUK can stop this oppression and stop this regime,” he said.
The sixth term of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections is scheduled to take place on October 20, 2024. The PUK is contesting with PUK List 129 and 172 candidates under the slogans "Correcting the Course of Governance" and "We Will End It."
