The fourth campaign rally of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) List 129 is scheduled to take place in Garmian on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, featuring Bafel Jalal Talabani.
Karwan Gazneyi, Spokesperson for PUK List 129, announced at a news conference that the campaign rally will be held tomorrow in the presence of PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani.
"The campaign will commence at 4 PM at Sherwana Stadium, where President Bafel will deliver a message to the people of Garmian and the entire Kurdistan Region," said the spokesperson for List 129.
PUK Rejects 'My Account' Project
Regarding PUK's stance on 'My Account', Gazneyi stated: "The PUK rejects the method of banking the salaries of Kurdistan Region's civil servants through 'My Account,' following President Bafel's speech in Koya. We support nationalisation (Tawtin) project, (which enables salary payments for Kurdistan Region's civil servants through the Iraqi state-owned banks), as that benefits the people in the Kurdistan Region."
"The PUK team has already worked seriously in the government to bank the salaries of the Kurdistan Region's civil servants. At the same time, we have made it clear that this process is voluntary and should not compel anyone to participate in the system or be forced to choose a specific bank. Therefore, as per with the Federal Court's ruling, the PUK supports the nationalisation," he further added, "In this context, the PUK team in the Iraqi government and parliament has been tasked with working diligently to ensure that salaries for the region are paid through one of the Iraqi state-owned banks, while also establishing branches of federal banks in Sulaymaniyah province."
Gazneyi also said: "We have a message for the political parties to support the PUK in rejecting 'My Account' and implementing Tawtin. As you know, many administrative positions in Sulaymaniyah, Halabja, Garmian, and Raparin administrations are held by other parties, and they should assist us in this endeavour."
Natural Resources Should Benefit the Citizens
Regarding the issue of natural resources, Gazneyi said: "President Bafel Jalal Talabani has consistently emphasised that oil and gas are natural resources that should benefit the citizens. However, the current policy has denied citizens the benefits of these resources, and we will not allow natural gas to suffer the same fate as oil, which has benefited only a select few. Instead, it must be utilised for the benefit of all citizens."
