The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) aims to ensure that the natural resources of the Kurdistan Region benefit the people and are safeguarded from partisan interests, and emphasises the importance of protecting these resources from the misguided policies that have persisted in the Kurdistan Region.
During the third electoral campaign in the Koya district, President Bafel stated: "You can be assured that the poor policies applied to oil will not be repeated with gas. I will never surrender control of gas to the authoritarian government. Only the PUK can bring an end to this authoritarian rule."
President Bafel Will Ensure That Gas Does not Take the Same Course as Oil
Ibrahim Ramadan, candidate number 16 on List 129 of the PUK for the Erbil constituency, told PUKMEDIA: "President Bafel's message is clear: we will not permit natural gas to follow the same path as oil and be exploited for the benefit of a single family. All Kurdish people support his message."
Ramadan stated, "President Bafel Jalal Talabani is addressing the issue of natural gas transparently and with the best interests of the Kurdish people in mind. The benefits must serve our people, who are currently deprived of the advantages of our natural resources."
The PUK Will Restore Rights
Nadir Mahmoud Mohammed, candidate number 22 on List 129 of the PUK for the Sulaymaniyah constituency, told PUKMEDIA: "President Bafel is committed to ensuring that the revenues from oil, gas, and natural resources benefit the people, rather than being exploited by the ruling party for its own interests over the years. He refuses to let the same mistakes made with oil be repeated with natural gas, which has seen a failed experience in export and marketing."
He explained: "The PUK seeks to establish an agreement with the federal government to benefit the citizens and guarantee they receive what they are entitled to. The ruling party has consistently failed to serve the people, choosing instead to redirect natural resource revenues for its own interests. Our goal is to ensure that all these revenues are placed into a secure fund and fairly distributed across all regions of the Kurdistan Region."
The PUK Will Ensure that Natural Resource Revenues Benefit the People
Revink Yisin Nabi Musa, candidate number 7 on List 129 of the PUK in the Duhok constituency, told PUKMEDIA: "The natural resources in the Kurdistan Region are sold solely for the benefit of the Barzani family, allowing them to purchase luxury cars and horses, rather than benefiting the citizens. If these resources were meant to serve the people, why do employees only receive their salaries every two or three months? They continue to sell oil under an illegal 50-year contract with Türkiye, with the revenues going exclusively to the Barzani family."
He stated: "The PUK will strive to ensure that the revenues from oil, gas, and natural resources in the Kurdistan Region are used for the benefit of the people, rather than for the gain of just one family."
