PUK 129 PUK Kurdistan Parliament Elections Kurdistan Region

The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) emphasises the necessity of correcting the course of governance, establishing a fair and service-oriented government, abolishing authoritarianism in the Kurdistan Region, and addressing the aspirations of citizens to enhance their quality of life. The PUK's motto is "We Will End It," and PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani affirms: "We deliver our promises."

The PUK's message gained widespread popularity and was highly embraced by the public, surpassing the slogans and mottos of other parties.

PUK’s Programme for the 6th term of Kurdistan Parliament states: "The lives of its citizens are deteriorating day by day and the status of the Kurdistan Region is becoming weaker. Hence, the PUK has pledged to carry out its historical responsibility for this election by implementing a thorough programme aimed at safeguarding the structure of the Kurdistan Region and improving the livelihood of the people of Kurdistan, and correcting the course of governance."

Ending the monopoly of power

During his latest statement to the press, Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, head of the Council for Protecting the Supreme Interests of the PUK, said: "The PUK will end the monopoly of power through democracy and elections."

He added: "President Bafel Jalal Talabani's electoral message is firm and assertive. It is a message for all societal segments to join in the formation of an authority that reflects their will, addresses their demands, and serves all citizens equally without discrimination."

Correcting the course of governance

PUK Spokesperson Saadi Ahmed Pire said in an interview with GK TV: "President Bafel has fulfilled all his previous promises; this time, change is assured. Given President Bafel's presence and his accomplishments, I anticipate favourable votes and seats for the PUK."

He added, "This election is different and no one can vote for someone else and that spreads anxiety among certain parties."

He further stated: "The PUK seeks to end corruption, authoritarian rule, and self-imposition, as well as to eliminate the suppression of free expression and the concerns of farmers regarding the influx of harmful crops into the country. We will eliminate sources of environmental pollution. The PUK is proud that there are no foreign troops within its borders."

Fateful Elections

Aras Mohammed Agha, a member of the PUK Leadership Council and Supervisor of the PUK's election campaign in the Duhok constituency, stated: "The upcoming elections are pivotal and detrimental for both the PUK and the people of Kurdistan," emphasising that "the primary objective of the PUK is to correct the governance course in the region."

He underlined the significance of the elections for the Kurdistan Region overall and the PUK specifically, along with the necessity to consolidate all efforts to ensure the success of the PUK list in the elections.

The sixth term of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections is scheduled to take place on October 20, 2024. The PUK is contesting with PUK List 129 and 172 candidates under the slogans "Correcting the Course of Governance" and "We Will End It."
