Sulaymaniyah University's 11 Lecturers Among Top 2% of Global Researchers

A recent report by Stanford University indicates that 11 lecturers from Sulaymaniyah University rank in the top 2% of researchers worldwide in their respective fields of study. The Director of Media at Sulaymaniyah University clarifies that the researchers are chosen based on the overall score of their research submissions.
Dr. Yohan Othman, Director of Media at Sulaymaniyah University, informed PUKMEDIA: "According to the latest report from Stanford University, published in mid-September 2024, 11 lecturers at Sulaymaniyah University are ranked among the top 2% of researchers globally in their scientific fields."
"Each year, Stanford University collaborates with Elsevier to identify the world’s 100,000 most influential researchers using the Scopus database, categorising them into 22 major fields and 174 subfields of science. Researchers are selected based on the composite score of their work," he added.
He further said that the ranking assesses researchers based on their work over the past year as well as their entire academic careers. For this year, 11 faculty members from Sulaymaniyah University are included in the ranking based on their one-year data, while 3 faculty members are recognised for their overall academic contributions.
Stanford University, established in 1885, is one of the most famous universities in the United States, known for its academic excellence and innovation. The Scopus database is a valuable resource for the academic community, cataloguing outstanding scientific articles and tracking research citations. Scopus, owned by the publishing house Elsevier, Scopus serves as a vital tool for researchers, providing comprehensive insights into scholarly contributions across various fields.
According to the AD Scientific Index, Sulaymaniyah University has been ranked first in the Kurdistan Region for the sixth time in just two days. It also secured the second position out of 125 universities across Iraq.
