Iranian President’s First International Visit Includes Visiting Sulaymaniyah & Meeting PUK President

PUK President and Iranian President
Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, is scheduled to arrive in Sulaymaniyah on Thursday via the Sulaymaniyah International Airport. He will have a meeting with Bafel Jalal Talabani, the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, at Dabashan in Sulaymaniyah.
Iranian Consul General Mohammad Mahmoudian stated at a press conference in Sulaymaniyah that the Iranian President's trip to Iraq is his first international visit since assuming office. He noted that this visit is a key part of Iran's strategy to strengthen its relationships with other nations and neighboring countries.
Iraq & Iran Sign a Memorandum of Understanding
Iranian CG added: "Due to Iraq's significance, the Iranian delegation has extensive plans and projects in their visit, and a memorandum of understanding in the areas of politics, economy, culture, security, science, and the environment will be signed between both countries."
He further stated that aside from the extensive negotiations in Baghdad, the Iranian President will also travel to the Kurdistan Region and engage in meetings with senior officials in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah.
Iranian President Visits President Mam Jalal's Grave
CG Mahmoudian said: "The Iranian president is scheduled to visit Sulaymaniyah, the city of literature and culture, which is also the home of the notable figure; President Mam Jalal, as per the plan. He will also meet with PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani and PUK officials, as well as visit the grave of former Iraqi President Mam Jalal."
The Iranian President's Visit Holds a Significant Message
"The visit of the Iranian President conveys a significant message to all, as the ties between Iran and the Kurdistan Region are firmly established and we are confident that the periodic challenges will not damage our friendship," Mahmoudian stated.
Today, Wednesday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Baghdad, where he was welcomed by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani and Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Kadhim al-Sadiq. He also met with Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid.
