Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), had a meeting with the candidates of the PUK in Erbil governorate.

PUK Political Bureau members Raafat Abdullah, Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, and Rewaz Fayaq were present at the meeting. PUK list leader in Erbil, Shalaw Kosrat Rasul, provided an update on the latest election preparations. Erbil is presently undergoing a transformation, he underlined.

"Together with the proud Erbilers, we will build a more promising future and reclaim Erbil for its citizens," he stated.

Regarding the elections and the next steps in the government process, President Bafel stated: "We will move forward to a new stage of governance in the Kurdistan Region marked by unity and solidarity. We intend to implement a national policy and strategy to better serve our country and its citizens. Our vision is for the future government to prioritize service and justice while safeguarding citizens' lives and livelihoods. We want to avoid jeopardizing their rights and salaries by tying them into political disputes."

Furthermore, he added: "We have fulfilled every promise we have made in the past two years with the support of God and our people. Now, with the same spirit and sense of responsibility towards Kurdistan and the lives of its people, we are taking steps towards radical changes. We are confident that the resilient people who have endured years of prejudice and unfair treatment will no longer tolerate limitations on their liberties and infringements upon their rights. Instead, they will opt for a government that acknowledges and responds to their suffering and hardships, and that genuinely safeguards their lives and livelihood."
