PMF's withdrawal from Garmian.
Following the explicit message from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), the Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) withdrew from Kulajo, Garmian, and Chalaw Khalid field.
The PMF have withdrawn from the areas a while before following the message of the senior PUK official who dubbed the action as a violation of the border and was carried out without the knowledge of the official forces in the region.
"The force will not be allowed to remain in the area under any circumstances," the official said.
"We have asked the centre (Baghdad) to withdraw the force directly because this violation is unacceptable," the official added.
"Our forces conducted a search and inspection operation in the Garmian area based on intelligence information regarding the presence of ISIS terrorists. After successfully completing our operations, we returned to our original location and withdrew from the area," stated the PMF.
Karwan Yarwais, a member of the PUK Faction in the Iraqi parliament, informed PUKMEDIA that the PMF forces have withdrawn and the oil fields near Kulajo are presently under the protection of the Garmian Oil and Gas Police.
"While the PMF arrived in the area claiming to conduct a security operation in response to the infiltration of several terrorists, they should have notified the Peshmerga and security agencies and coordinated the operation," stated Yarwais.
On Sunday morning August 25, 2024, the PMF crossed the border without informing the security forces of the area, but after the clear position of the PUK on the crossing of the border, the force returned to their place.
