Kurdistan Region's Deputy PM Qubad Talabani.
On the 10th anniversary of the Yezidi genocide, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region emphasised that terrorism continues to pose a significant and ongoing threat and that the persistence of extremism and intolerance towards differences remains a constant factor contributing to acts of terrorism, genocide, and the eradication of diversity.
Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani conveyed a message, of which a copy has been received by PUKMEDIA: "On the 10th anniversary of the genocide of our Yezidi brothers and sisters at the hands of the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists, we pay tribute to the victims of this brutal crime.
He added: “A decade later, terrorism continues to pose a significant threat. The persistent presence of extremism and intolerance towards differences remains the underlying causes of terrorism, genocide, and the eradication of diversity. After 10 years, we are still concerned that the essential efforts to stabilise and rebuild Sinjar and facilitate the return of IDPs to their homes have not been adequately carried out. We are concerned that the victims have not been properly compensated.”
"Our commitment to achieving complete tranquilly in Sinjar and its environs, as well as ensuring security and the well-being of our brothers and sisters in these regions, remains unwavering," he stated.
