Qubad Talabani: Terrorism Remains Significant Threat in Iraq

Qubad Talabani's meeting with US delegation
Qubad Talabani, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, met with a delegation from the US military led by Brad Cooper, the Deputy Commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM). They engaged in a discussion regarding terrorism and ways of improving collaboration between coalition forces and security forces in the Kurdistan Region.
During a meeting in Erbil today, Qubad Talabani expressed gratitude to the US forces for their continuous collaboration with the Counter-Terrorism Group and other security forces in Kurdistan. This collaboration resulted in a successful combined security operation against terrorists in the Region. The attendees included Shorsh Ismail, Minister of Peshmerga, Major General Bakhtiar Muhammad Sidiq, Secretary-General of the Ministry, and Mark Stroh, US Consul General in the Region.
The main focus of the meeting was to discuss the problem of terrorism in Iraq and the surrounding area. Both parties agreed that terrorism remains a significant threat to security and stability in Iraq and the surrounding region. They emphasised the need to maintain the presence of coalition forces in Iraq to provide ongoing support and coordination with other security forces in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region to eradicate the terrorism threat and assist Iraq in safeguarding its sovereignty and maintaining security and stability in the Region.
During the discussion, the issue of reform within the Peshmerga forces was discussed. Qubad Talabani expressed his ongoing support for the continuation of reform measures in the Peshmerga Ministry and urged to accelerate these measures.
