Deputy Governor: PUK Efforts Put Sulaymaniyah at Forefront in Service Provision

Sulaymaniyah province was ranked first in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq in a variety of sectors in 2024, including education, health, investment, higher education, the environment, and sports. According to the Deputy Governor of Sulaymaniyah, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) has made significant efforts at both the government and party levels to serve the people, putting Sulaymaniyah at the forefront.
Shaho Osman, Deputy Governor of Sulaymaniyah for Administrative Affairs, told PUKMEDIA: "The PUK's efforts to collaborate, cooperate, and promote harmony among different political parties and communities have yielded positive outcomes for the Sulaymaniyah province, both at the regional and national levels in Iraq. Our ongoing endeavours are focused on preserving the titles we have achieved, with the ultimate objective of attaining the top position in all areas inside Iraq."
"Sulaymaniyah is the leading province in Iraq in terms of education, health, security, investment, higher education, and the environment," he added.
Adding: "The PUK's diligent efforts, both through its representatives in the government and within the party itself, are credited for this achievement."
Sulaymaniyah is the best-performing city in both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq in terms of providing a diverse range of services. Recent data from the Ministry of Education shows that 31 of the 43 top-achieving students who passed the 12th grade exams are from the province of Sulaymaniyah.
The province has approved 370 investment projects in the last 19 years. Sulaymaniyah became Iraq's leading province in terms of investment in 2023, with the most projects (53).
According to the Webometrics statistics for the second half of 2024, Sulaymaniyah University holds the top position among both public and private universities in the Kurdistan Region and ranks fourth in Iraq.
Based on data from the Iraqi Ministry of Planning, the poverty rate in Sulaymaniyah province is the lowest among all other provinces in Iraq, with a decrease to 3%.
Based on the data from the Iraqi Ministry of Environment, Sulaymaniyah province has the highest level of greenery among all Iraqi provinces, surpassing the international benchmark of 15%.
Sulaymaniyah province's sports have advanced significantly in recent years, with athletes consistently placing first in both national and regional competitions. As a result, Sulaymaniyah Province has emerged as a major player in a variety of sports.
