PUK President: Fight Against Terrorism Must be Elevated

PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani and Iraqi National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji,

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received Qasim al-Araji, Iraq's National Security Advisor, and a delegation of senior military and security officials in Dabashan, Sulaymaniyah.

The meeting, attended by Jalal Sheikh Naji, Head of the Parastin and Zanyari / Zanyari Agency, and Lieutenant Colonel Omar Salih, Commander-in-Chief of the Peshmerga's Force 70, focused on recent military and security updates, as well as the outcome of the National Security Council's meeting. They emphasised the importance of maintaining consistent and effective collaboration between military intelligence and security units in order to maintain regional security and stability.

President Bafel highlighted the region's ongoing security situation as well as the Islamic State's (ISIS) terrorist activities. He stated that it is evident that the terrorism threat persists and that ISIS remains active. Therefore, he called for increased intelligence and security cooperation to elevate the fight against terrorism and eliminate any space for terrorist operations while also protecting our people's stability and lives.
