DPM Talabani meets Commander Vowell
Qubad Talabani, the Deputy Prime Minister, met with Joel B. Vowell, the Commander of the Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve, and his team. The group deliberated on the security situation in Iraq and the surrounding region, as well as the alliance between the coalition forces and the Peshmerga forces.
During the meeting in Erbil on Wednesday, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the allies for their ongoing support to the Peshmerga forces, particularly in terms of training and enhancing military capabilities. The meeting was attended by the Peshmerga Minister and the Secretary General of the Ministry.
Another subject discussed during the discussion was the perils associated with terrorism. Talabani emphasised that terrorism remains a significant danger to the security and stability of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. He stressed the importance of ongoing coordination among security forces, as terrorism continues to pose a threat that we must not underestimate.
During another segment of the discussion, the topic of reform within the Ministry of Peshmerga was deliberated. Both parties reached a consensus on the necessity of proceeding with the planned reforms.
