DPM Talabani, German Forces Stress Necessity of Peshmerga Reforms

Kurdistan Region's Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani received a German military delegation led by Colonel Lars Persikowsk, commander of the German forces in the Kurdistan Region, and they discussed the ongoing reform efforts in the Kurdistan Region's Ministry of Peshmerga as well as various matters concerning the Kurdish Peshmerga forces.
At a meeting on Monday (June 3, 2024) attended by Shoresh Ismail, the Minister of Peshmerga in the Kurdistan Region, and Klaus Streicher, the Consul General of Germany in the Kurdistan Region, both parties agreed on the importance of continuing the reform process in the Peshmerga forces, as well as improving the organisation of all forces.
The German military delegation outlined their perspectives on enhancing the professionalism of the Peshmerga forces as part of the programme to strengthen their capabilities. They also discussed the successful training of the Peshmerga forces in medical and emergency treatment.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the German military for their aid to the Peshmerga, particularly in terms of training and logistical support, and expressed a desire for the aid to persist. They also discussed the women in the Peshmerga forces and discussed how to train more women in the military to perform their duties more professionally.
