PUK Spokesperson: PUK Emphasises Holding Elections

The Spokesperson of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) provided a clear explanation of the results of the PUK Political Bureau's meeting held on Monday, May 28, 2024. He stated that the PUK emphasises holding the elections as soon as possible.

PUK Spokesperson Saadi Ahmed Pire told PUKMEDIA that the meeting of the PUK's Political Bureau took place following the return of PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani from his visit to the United States, during which President Bafel had several significant meetings. The Political Bureau discussed the outcomes of these meetings.

"Another significant agenda item of today's meeting was the Kurdistan parliamentary elections, with an emphasis on the importance of conducting them promptly and within the designated timeframe," he stated.

"During President Bafel's meetings with political figures in the United States, both sides emphasised the significance of conducting elections to enhance the Kurdistan Region's standing," remarked Pire.
 
Regarding the PUK's founding anniversary, which is to be celebrated in the next few days, Pire stated: "Unlike the previous years, the veteran Peshmergas of 1976 will receive awards, and multiple events will take place at various headquarters and offices of the PUK."
