PUK President's meeting with Italian Ambassador & CG

President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Bafel Jalal Talabani received Italian Ambassador to Iraq Maurizio Gregant and his accompanying delegation at Dabashan, Sulaymaniyah.

The meeting, which was attended by Michele Camerota, Consul General of Italy in the Kurdistan Region, underscored the need to enhance and broaden collaboration between the two parties across multiple domains, with the aim of safeguarding the highest interests and national values. 

President Bafel Jalal Talabani commended the contribution of Italian military advisors in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq as part of the international coalition forces, who have played a significant role in providing assistance and reorganizing the armed forces. He emphasized that ongoing collaboration is a significant factor in combating terrorism and upholding regional stability.

The discussion also addressed the country's political and security dynamics, as well as the matter of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections. Both parties acknowledged the significance of conducting fair and modern elections, which will enhance the democratic process and present a more optimistic outlook of the Kurdistan Region.
