DPM Talabani Promotes Transparent, Fair, and Timely Elections

Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani received Jeanine Plasschaert, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Iraq, to discuss the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Kurdistan and the relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad.

Talabani praised Plasschaert during the Wednesday meeting in Erbil for her tireless efforts in addressing the problems and fostering a closer relationship between the political factions in Kurdistan and Iraq. He said that these efforts have played a role in maintaining the peace of Iraq and alleviating numerous political disputes in recent years.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the need to conduct the upcoming session of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections in a transparent and fair manner, adhering to the established schedule.

During the meeting, they also deliberated on the relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad. Both sides agreed on the significance of ongoing negotiations to address all matters, particularly financial concerns, which significant progress have been made in this regard.
