Qubad Talabani, the Kurdistan Region's Deputy Prime Minister, stated that they will not tolerate any attempts to obstruct the work of firms or investors.
On Monday, February 19, 2024, DPM Talabani visited the Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce and reaffirmed his support, saying: "We will not allow anyone to cause problems for businessmen and investors."
He stated: "Our goal is to strengthen the private sector by assisting entrepreneurs and investors. Government agencies have been directed to streamline processes in order to reduce obstacles to their work.
Qubad Talabani urged the Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce to promote investment in agriculture, industry, and tourism, as they are crucial for Kurdistan's development, and these sectors will create numerous job opportunities for young people, thus enhancing the economic foundation and bolstering the private sector.
DPM Talabani addressed businessmen and investors' concerns, emphasising efforts to strengthen the rule of law and ensuring that extortion or other similar actions that could harm investors or traders would not be tolerated.
He congratulated the new president and members of the Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce, and expressed his desire to make a significant contribution to Sulaymaniyah's growth, commercial activities, and market revitalisation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Qubad Talabani praised Sulaymaniyah's businessmen, investors, and departments for making the city the leading project hub in 2023. He attributed the success to collaborative efforts and predicted that more projects in various sectors would benefit Sulaymaniyah this year.
