Deputy Prime Minister's meeting with Turkish Defence Minister

Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani held a meeting with Turkish Defence Minister Yaşar Güler to specifically address the matter concerning Sulaymaniyah International Airport, as well as various other topics of shared importance.

The Peshmerga and Planning Ministers, the Deputy Head of the Foreign Relations Department, and the Turkish Ambassador to Iraq all attended the meeting. The discussion focused on Turkey's diplomatic ties with the Kurdistan Region, as well as efforts to strengthen and benefit from these relationships. 

The meeting also discussed security and stability issues in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. Both sides expressed their perspectives on the issue, emphasising the importance of maintaining stability and respecting both countries' sovereignty. 

The closure of Turkish airspace to flights from Sulaymaniyah International Airport was discussed during the meeting. Given the circumstances, the Deputy Prime Minister advocated for a resolution to the issue.
