Iraqi President Emphasizes Need for Disbursing Kurdistan's Financial Dues

Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid welcomed Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and his delegation to Baghdad on Sunday, January 14, 2024.
They had a thorough discussion about the country's overall state of affairs, including recent advances in security and politics. They also emphasized the importance of increasing security and stability, as well as fostering cooperation and coordination to meet citizens' demands and necessities, ultimately improving their quality of life and public services.
In line with the law and the Constitution, President Rashid underlined the importance of resolving the outstanding issues between the Iraqi federal government and the Kurdistan Region. He also emphasized the importance of resolving the employee salary dispute in the Kurdistan Region and fulfilling the Region's -Kurdistan Region- financial obligations in compliance with the approved budget.
The need for continuing talks and consultations between the two parties to address common issues was emphasized, along with the necessity of coordinating efforts across political groups to support the government's programme while preserving Iraq's sovereignty and capacity for independent decision-making.
The Kurdistan Region's President discussed the outcomes of meetings with political faction leaders. He praised Iraq's President for promoting political dialogue and protecting the rights of all citizens, including those from the Kurdistan Region.
