Qubad Talabani, Supervisor of the Secretariat Office of President Mam Jalal, congratulated the Women's Union of Kurdistan on the occasion of its 34th founding anniversary.
Qubad Talabani's message for the Women's Union of Kurdistan said:
Mrs. Kafya Sulaiman, Secretary of the Women's Union of Kurdistan
Dear members of the Secretariat and all members of the Women's Union of Kurdistan.
I want to express my sincere congratulations to you, the Women's Union of Kurdistan members, and all Kurdistan women on the organization's 34th anniversary of founding. I applaud the 34 years you have dedicated to defending women's rights.
It is no secret that, in spite of your arduous work and those of other groups and activists, women's status in our society is still far behind what is necessary. Thus, it is appropriate to critically evaluate the current state of affairs and future work strategies with the assistance of other women's rights organizations and activists to further develop your work in the future.
Together, you should pinpoint the errors and shortfalls, create a plan and strategy suitable for the social, political, and economic context of Kurdistan, and revitalize the struggle of Kurdistan women.
I'm hopeful that the Women's Union will take advantage of this chance to reflect on its 34 years of struggle and build a stronger base for what is ahead in the years to come. I am ready to assist with this as needed.
