Jordanian Princess, Princess Basma Bint Talal praises Iraqi First Lady Ms. Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed in a message for inviting her to Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
The following is Princess Basma's message to the Iraqi First Lady:
I will forever cherish the memory of my visit to Sulaymaniyah and Baghdad, at the warm invitation of the First Lady of Iraq, Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed, my lovely friend. From the outset I experienced both joy and pain; but throughout it was largely a feeling of awe, admiration and respect for the people of this beautiful country in all its ethnic, cultural, religious, social and political diversity, for their collective and individual courage and resilience, too often in the face of tremendous suffering and loss.
I pray that in all the different areas, including the autonomous region of Kurdistan, peace and stability will continue to grow, so that the country can fulfill its true potential and people can build on the benefits of reconciliation for a stronger and happier future. Once again my grateful thanks to my friend Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed, writer, activist, and humanitarian, for her thoughtful hospitality, and for opening this unforgettable window into her magnificent country.
