PUK President Issues a Message on PUK's 5th Congress

The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Jalal Talabani has made a significant announcement regarding the PUK's fifth congress: "The PUK is following its policy in the federal center with a clear vision and a well-thought-out plan, a policy that President Mam Jalal adopted and is one of peace, coexistence, and sincere partnership."

The following is President Bafel's complete message:

My proud comrades,

While the PUK has historically fought for Kurdistan through armed revolution, losing over 26,000 lives in the process, we now believe that political struggle is the most effective way to preserve achievements, provide services, and build a more stable future.

President Mam Jalal adopted a policy of peace, coexistence, and sincere partnership, which the PUK is pursuing with a clear vision and a well-thought-out plan at the federal center. Given that we are aware that Baghdad is central to the Kurdish plan, we wish to improve the region's standing, secure our people's constitutional rights, and ensure a decent standard of living for them.

I further highlight the need to maintain a national policy, remain steadfast in favor of PUK positions on national matters, and defend the rights of Kurds around the world.

Dear brothers and sisters:

The fifth congress will be held to strengthen the PUK as we enter a new phase of our organizational struggle. With God's assistance and your support, we will succeed and spread the good news of a stronger PUK to the Kurdish people.

The PUK has proven throughout history to be a strong battlefield of Kurdish identity and a fortress of resistance. Our struggle is so glorious that we believe there is no force more loyal to Kurdistan than ourselves. Everyone recognizes the PUK's strength and influence in the Region and the federal government today, and our international relations are at a high level. It is abundantly clear that the strength of the PUK reflects the strength of both the Region and Iraq. As a result, all comrades must remember that belonging to the PUK entails historical, national, and moral responsibilities. All your efforts and steps must be equal to the national policy of the PUK, and your goal should be to serve the Kurds and Kurdistan.

Dear proud family members of martyrs, veteran Peshmergas, political prisoners, and disabled soldiers,

You have made significant contributions to both Kurdistan and your PUK. We are well aware that this party's swift ascent to power in Kurdistan and the rest of the region was made possible by your unwavering support and tenacious resolve. The PUK will continue to be true to your efforts and resistance, and it will be the same PUK for which you have made sacrifices, I promise and assure you. I commit to making this happen by using every means at my disposal. Rest assured that the PUK has President Mam Jalal's and your trust, and that we will protect it as if it were our soul.

Those of you who have taken the PUK into your hearts and are looking forward to a brighter future, we are moving and writing a glorious and proud history for the Martyrs' Party with the same spirit and one goal in mind: the fifth congress and a stronger and inventive PUK.
