The PUK Politburo's meeting in Kirkuk.
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of
Kurdistan (PUK), presided over a meeting of the PUK Political Bureau in Kirkuk
on Sunday, August 20, 2023.
"The PUK continues on national and Kurdish routes to defend
the Kurdish people, and separating the political conflict between the parties
and the Region and Baghdad is our priority, and the lives and welfare of our
people is a red line for the PUK, and we will defend it in every way,"
said the PUK's President at the outset.
President Bafel was pleased to comment on the PUK's improved
relations with Kurdistan, Iraq, and the international community, crediting this
to the leadership's unity and commitment.
"Our unchanging strategy is in the service of our people,
and Kirkuk, which is part of the PUK's body, will remain as Kurdistan's
Jerusalem, and we will protect the spirit of coexistence," he said.
The meeting, held in the Political Bureau's offices in
Kirkuk, covered political issues, organizational activities and bodies, and the
PUK's fifth congress. It was decided to hold the fifth congress on September
27, 2023, as a party merit, in democracy, to rekindle the spirit of unity.
The meeting also addressed several issues concerning the
country's overall situation, and important national decisions were made in this
regard.
