PUK Faction and Iraqi PM.
The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) faction demanded that the Kurdistan Region's share of the budget or an advance for salary distribution in the Kurdistan Region be sent, and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani responded by saying that financing will be sent to the region for salaries very soon.
The PUK faction in the Iraqi Parliament paid a visit to PM al-Sudani on July 31, 2023, and presented him with several current Kurdish requests. The most pressing of these was the transfer of the Kurdistan Region's share of the federal budget, or an advance on the distribution of salaries in the Kurdistan Region, neither of which had been made in two months.
Allocating a budget as a gift from the Prime Minister to Halabja province and the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education's recognition of Garmian, Charmo, and Raparin universities.
In addition, they called for a cancer hospital to be constructed in Sulaymaniyah, the air blockade on Sulaymaniyah Airport to be lifted, and 171 bodies of Anfal victims from Garmian to be sent to forensic medicine in Baghdad for DNA testing.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the PUK for its balanced and responsible approach to dealing with Iraqi political issues and supporting the Iraqi government and stated that they will discuss all demands and make the required decisions.
