Argo-tourism project, an initiative of Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, was announced and head of the Kurdistan Region's Tourism Board says: "Kurdistan is a very important tourist destination, it can take big steps, especially in the field of agricultural tourism."
Kurdistan is a very important tourist destination, and it has the potential to make significant strides, particularly in the area of agricultural tourism, according to Amal Jalal, the head of the Kurdistan Region's Tourism Board.
"Therefore, a debate was conducted to organize a committee in conjunction with the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources with the aid of a German organization for this purpose, at the proposal of Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani," Jalal told PUKMEDIA.
"Qubad Talabani also initiated naming the project (Argo-tourism), which combines agriculture and tourism, after holding a conference in Halabja. At the moment, teams from the Ministry of Agriculture have identified the areas, and we will oversee the meetings and the project with Qubad Talabani's team," she added.
According to Jalal, the project will be implemented throughout the Kurdistan Region after the first phase of training farmers and identifying certain nearby tourism hotspots to be used as test locations.
She stated: "I anticipate the project to be implemented early next year."
On June 15, 2023, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister announced preparations for the announcement and promotion of the Argo-tourism project, which will develop tourism and agriculture and create more job opportunities.
