Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, visited the Shushme border crossing in Halabja province and announced that it will shortly be open to tourists.
On June 18, 2021, Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani visited the Shushme border crossing in Halabja province and remarked, "The border crossing will be officially opened to tourists soon, which will affect the economic recovery of Halabja and Hawraman."
Following a thorough examination of the border crossing's issues, Qubad Talabani referred to his recent meeting with the Iraqi Interior Minister, during which they agreed to collaborate between the two governments of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region to expand the Shushme border crossing in Hawraman.
Tourists will soon be able to drive between the Kurdistan Region and Iran in their own vehicles as part of the expansion of the border crossing, which will help the province's economic recovery and tourism development.
