The meeting.
Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, met with a British military delegation led by Air Marshal Sammy Sampson, Senior Advisor for the Middle East and North Africa for the UK Chief of Defence. He emphasized that party rivalries and political issues should not interfere with the implementation of the reform process in the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs and that every effort will be made to make the Peshmerga forces more unified, powerful, and effective.
Rosy Cave, the British consul general, and Lieutenant Colonel Bakhtiar Mohammed, the secretary general of the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs, attended the meeting, which took place on Friday, June 15, 2023, in Erbil. They talked about the stages of the reform process' execution at the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs.
Qubad Talabani voiced his worry about the current circumstances and internal issues in the Kurdistan Region. He said: "Everyone should understand the threats and dangers facing the Kurdistan Region and not sacrifice higher interests for party interests."
"Party interference and political conflict should not affect the implementation of the reform plan and disrupt or slow down the process," he said.
To keep the Peshmerga forces out of political problems, he stressed the necessity of carrying out the reform phases in the Peshmerga forces as planned. He urged the allies to cooperate more in doing so.
