Two reports and US investigations are available to "decide" on the Sulaymaniyah Airport attack
Reports 09:01 AM - 2023-04-14Sulaymaniyah International Airport.
There are two Iraqi reports on the attack on Sulaymaniyah International Airport and a Pentagon investigation. According to a member of the Iraqi parliamentary committee looking into the airport attack:
"The results will make the government's position on the attack on Sulaymaniyah International Airport clear so that it may reach a firm conclusion." "The United States and Turkey have been informed that Mazlum Abdi's entry was part of an international coalition campaign against the Islamic State (ISIS)," he added.
Harem Kamal Agha, a member of the Iraqi committee of inquiry into the attack on Sulaymaniyah Airport, told PUKMEDIA: "Meetings between Abdi and the coalition took place internationally and domestically." "The coordination between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Iraqi state has been maintained, especially in the war against terrorism, and Iraq has participated in this struggle," he added.
"Abdi traveled to Sulaymaniyah to meet with coalition forces fighting ISIS." He stated that these international meetings would continue as long as ISIS existed. Meetings between the coalition and the Counter-Terrorism Group (CTG), Baghdad, and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) will undoubtedly continue, according to Kamal.
Iraq was also aware of Mazloum Abdi’s visit
No one was unaware of Mazloum Abdi and the Allies' visit because the Iraqi government knows every passenger detail on every plane that lands on Iraqi territory.
An Iraqi MP from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) faction, Karim Shukur, told PUKMEDIA: "No one was unaware of Mazlum Abdi and the coalition's visit, and whenever a plane flies into the Kurdistan Region, the Iraqi government is aware of the passengers, the flight's schedule, and the location of its takeoff and landing."
"Airports at Sulaymaniyah and Erbil are known as border crossings that the Iraqi government controls and are part of the Iraqi Aviation Authority, and any plane entering Iraq, regardless of province, must be aware of it," Shukur explained.
Sulaymaniyah International Airport was the target of an attack on the evening of April 7, 2023. The following day, a senior Iraqi team led by Qasim al-Araji, the country's national security adviser, paid a visit to Sulaymaniyah. The Iraqi Council of Ministers established this high-level committee. The Iraqi parliament established another delegation for the same reason, and both committees are currently working on their reports.
The Supreme Security Committee and the Iraqi Parliament will provide clarification in their reports
A meeting will take place the following week, according to Kamal Agha. A report has been prepared with the help of the government and the parliamentary presidency. This report will be coordinated so that the government has complete information and can make an informed decision.
He also stated, "The Iraqi government is extremely concerned and irritated by the neighboring nations' persistent violations of its sovereignty, particularly Turkey." "These violations include military operations, observations of individuals being injured, and harm to Iraq's territory, people, and sovereignty."
The Iraqi parliamentary committee and the Iraqi Supreme Security and Military Committee will each create their reports independently.
According to Kamal Agha, "These two reports—particularly the attack on Sulaymaniyah International Airport—further clarify the government's view of the decision that requires additional work in the Security Council."
"The radars of the airport and Kirkuk provide a very clear indication of how and when the drones were sent, according to reports we have received from the security services and Sulaymaniyah International Airport," he said. "Our committee's position is clear, but a complete answer will not be provided until more research is conducted."
According to US Deputy State Department spokesman Vedant Patel, the country is investigating the murder attempt on the US team with Abdi, who are military commanders, at Sulaymaniyah International Airport.
The US has more information about the attack on Sulaymaniyah airport
"The US Department of Defense has more information about the probe, and we will not go until their investigation is complete," said the US Deputy State Department spokesperson.
However, Kamal Agha says: "The radar systems of the airports in Kirkuk and Sulaymaniyah detected the drone's movement at 9:00 a.m." As a result, the Americans were warned, and the Turks were warned before the attack, but the attack went ahead!"
According to a report in the London-based Arabic newspaper, "There was a deep security and intelligence relationship between Erbil and Ankara for the attack and assassination attempt at Sulaymaniyah airport."
