SDF spokesperson Farhad Shami.
The spokesperson for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said that some parties do not support the national interests. According to SDF spokesperson Farhad Shami, the purpose of the SDF and the Counter-Terrorism Group (CTG) is to safeguard the Kurdish people, not party interests. "The Kurdish people must discern between their friends and foes," he said.
"The goal of the accusations against the CTG is to conceal the truth," he stated. "The coordination between the SDF and the CTG is to protect south and west Kurdistan."
"The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and political parties must understand the reality, and some people and parties who do not want the nation's interests are leaking secret information."
CTG conducts an operation in West KurdistanReports have circulated claiming that the CTG planned the Sulaymaniyah International Airport attack against the SDF commander.
In reality, on April 9, 2023, the CTG handled an operation in the Al-Markada region in southern Hasakah province, northeastern Syria, in coordination with the global coalition and the Counter-Terrorism Forces (YAT) of the SDF.
The operation captured an active Islamic State (ISIS) cell base and apprehended four ISIS terrorists whose job was to supply logistical supplies to other ISIS cells.
The SDF commander-in-chief, Mazloum Abdi, praised Sulaymaniyah residents for their heartfelt position on the SDF's targeting in a statement addressed to the city.
"We commend our people in Sulaymaniyah for their sincere opposition to the targeting of the Counter-ISIS group and us."
"We have always known the people of Sulaymaniyah to be defenders of the Kurdish people's national unity and the defenders of the west's (West Kurdistan) revolution," he said.
"We hope that our people in the Kurdistan Region will show an appropriate mass reaction to Turkey's aggression," he added.
The accusations made against the CTG are to hide and distort the factsThe SDF Commander-in-Chief stated, "Our forces are on duty and in constant coordination with our partners in the Kurdistan Region." "We would like to clarify that the CTG was with us at Sulaymaniyah Airport on the day we were targeted."
"The accusations against this struggling force are intended to conceal and distort the truth," he continued. "We will never forget the loyalty and support of the CTG during the difficult days of the West's struggle, where they supported our units in the most trying stages and fought alongside us."
