Iraq, Turkey, Iran, and Syria on the map.
On Friday, April 7, Turkey targeted Sulaymaniyah International Airport with a drone, sparking strong local and international protests. The Kurdish parties condemned the attack, called it a violation of Iraqi sovereignty, and called on the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Iraqi government to seriously act on this violation and take action to stop the enemies' aggression.
The Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of KurdistanThe Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) condemned the attack on Sulaymaniyah International Airport, saying: "An intelligence and espionage plot executed in advance led to the attack on Sulaymaniyah International Airport, equivalent to sending an occupying force into the Kurdistan Region. Hence, we strongly condemn this attack. We expected the relevant authorities to act, investigate, and condemn this crime rather than blindly justify it. However, as in the past, a self-imposed minority within the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) with special and secret connections has become guides for using the government's institutions in service of other countries' intelligence agencies to undermine the security of the Kurdistan Region and Sulaymaniyah Province."
The Gorran MovementIn a statement, the Gorran Movement strongly denounced the attack on Sulaymaniyah International Airport and called on the government to take all necessary steps to preserve security and peace in Sulaymaniyah province and the whole Kurdistan Region.
Kurdistan Socialist Democratic PartyThe Kurdistan Socialist Democratic Party (KSDP) condemned the attack on Sulaymaniyah International Airport, saying: "This attack is unacceptable, and we strongly condemn it because it is against the entire people of the Kurdistan Region." "We see the incident as an attack against the Kurdish people and territory and an intrusion into Kurdistan Region's internal affairs."
Kurdistan National PartyThe Kurdistan National Party (KNP) calls the attack a cowardly act and asserts that it is directed against the entire Kurdish people and Kurdistan's territory. It also argues all Kurdish political parties to take their historical duty seriously and state their positions clearly.
Kurdistan Green PartyThe Kurdistan Green Party (KGP) strongly denounced the attack on Sulaymaniyah International Airport, which stated: "Targeting a civilian airport is not only a breach of Iraqi sovereignty but also a danger to the lives of Kurdish citizens, particularly the residents of Sulaymaniyah." "The Kurdish political parties should meet urgently as soon as possible in Sulaymaniyah to discuss how to take legal action against the attack before the International Court of Justice."
Kurdistan Communist PartyThe Kurdistan Communist Party (KCP) condemned the targeting of Sulaymaniyah International Airport, saying: "The Sulaymaniyah International Airport is a civilian institution and a significant accomplishment of our people, so it is up to all of us, especially the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi government, to protect it." "It is obvious that these hostile acts are the outcome of exploiting the divisions between the political parties and the two Kurdistan Region zones."
Kurdistan Democratic Liberation MovementThe Kurdistan Democratic Liberation Movement (KDM) condemned the attack and said: "These actions serve the enemies of the Kurdish people." "The enemies of our people aim to sabotage Kurdistan's unity, peace, prosperity, and coexistence."
Kurdistan Freedom PartyThe Kurdistan Freedom Party strongly condemned the targeting of Sulaymaniyah International Airport, saying: "We strongly condemn the enemy's targeting of Sulaymaniyah Airport and any other such attempts to harm our land or people." "It is important to note that this terrorist attack and hostile attempt against locals and the Kurdistan Regional Government are not new."
The National Coalition"We share our protest against this attack that puts Iraq and the region in danger," the National Coalition said. "There is no excuse to remain silent on this issue because sabotaging the security of Sulaymaniyah and its surroundings is sabotaging the security of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region."
Kurdistan Liberation Party"We strongly condemn the Turkish regime's crimes and call on the international community to recognize the Turkish regime as a terrorist regime." "It has continued to engage in terrorist activities and support terrorist groups in front of the whole world for years," said the Kurdistan Liberation Party (KLP).
