PUK faction requests ICAO to stand up for Sulaymaniyah International Airport

The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) faction in the Iraqi parliament condemned the attack on Sulaymaniyah International Airport.

 

The PUK faction stated:

We vehemently condemn the blast directed toward Sulaymaniyah International Airport this evening.

It is deeply concerning and a breach of international norms and regulations that Turkish airspace has been closed to aircraft from Sulaymaniyah International Airport for no security or technical reason.

We urge the Iraqi parliament and government to speak out against such assaults on the country's sovereignty.

We request that the United Nations and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) stand up for Sulaymaniyah International Airport and speak out against its unjust treatment.
