The Meeting.
Saadi Ahmed Pire, Member of the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received a delegation of the United Nations Assistance Mission to Iraq (UNAMI) on Thursday, March 30, 2023.
The delegation consisted of the Head of UNAMI's Political Affairs Department and Political Advisors at the United Nations Office in the Kurdistan Region.
The political situation in Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and the region as a whole were discussed, in particular the relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad and the outstanding issues between the two sides that affect the political, economic, and security situation.
Saadi Ahmed Pire emphasized that the PUK seeks to resolve all issues through dialogue and mutual understanding for the benefit of the Kurdish people.
"The PUK has tried to resolve the outstanding issues related to the oil issue between Erbil and Baghdad long before the decision of the Paris Court, during the cabinet of Maliki and subsequent cabinets," he said.
He also thanked the United Nations, particularly Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Iraq, who has always been committed to finding a peaceful and legal solution to the problems.
