President Bafel Jalal Talabani visits Ammar al-Hakim in Baghdad

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), accompanied by Rafaat Abdullah, a member of the Political Bureau's Executive Board of the PUK, Khalid Shwani, a member of the Political Bureau, visited Ammar al-Hakim, Leader of the Wisdom Movement in Baghdad.

In the course of the visit, President Bafel Jalal Talabani expressed to Ammar al-Hakim and his family the condolences of the PUK for the passing of Sayyid Sadiq al-Hakim, the son of Ayatollah Sayyid Mohammad Baqir al-Hakim, adding, "President Mam Jalal and the Hakim family have had a close friendship for a very long time, and we will keep that friendship going."

"At the various phases of the Kurdish people's struggle, we will not forget your support and courageous role, which we view with honor," he added.

The meeting also covered the problems between the Kurdistan Region and Iraq and highlighted the necessity for ongoing communication and understanding between the two sides in order to attain greater objectives, give more services to the people, and support the reform program in the country.
