President Bafel: Constitutional rights of the Kurdish people should be preserved

President Bafel and Iraqi prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani.
Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani, the Prime Minister of Iraq, and his accompanying delegation were welcomed by Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), at the PUK's headquarters in Dabashan, Sulaymaniyah.
The discussion focused on supporting the Iraqi national project, which involves the provision of services, law enforcement, and stability, and it covered the political, economic, and security developments in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
President Bafel commended the Iraqi Prime Minister for completing the procedures to make Halabja a province and urged the Iraqi government to use this as a crucial first step in serving the people of Halabja and providing their legal and constitutional rights.
"Practical efforts must be made to serve the victims and reconstruct the province," he said.
Regarding the approval of Iraq's budget bill, President Bafel stated: "It is an important step as economic stability and the lives of citizens should be preserved."
President Bafel also reaffirmed the PUK's dedication to implementing the government program so as to provide more services to the people and stated: "We emphasize resolving issues between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad in a political manner so as to safeguard the constitutional rights of the Kurdish people."
He added that national interests must prevail and that everyone must strive for prosperity and stability.
"The PUK adheres to President Mam Jalal's policies and strategy and has one course and one decision," he continued. "With our friends, we want to serve the people and the nation, and we believe in the power of a sincere alliance and a spirit of cooperation."
"The rich legacy left by President Mam Jalal is a tremendous and vital obligation for everyone to adhere to," said the Iraqi Prime Minister in appreciation of President Bafel and the PUK's constructive political role in Iraq.
The Iraqi Prime Minister also stated: "The political stability of Iraq depends on the political stability of the region, and it is the responsibility of the government to serve everyone and carry out the reform process."
