On Sunday, March 12, 2023, five offices in Sulaymaniyah officially introduced the One Window system for the first time in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
This is another project of Qubad Talabani, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, to serve citizens. The system will reduce routine, prevent corruption, and deter bribery.
When visiting Sulaymaniyah Governorate Office, one of the five offices where the One Window system is in use, Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani said: "One Window is part of the service program that is to improve the delivery of services; citizens can perform their transactions in the easiest way and with the least routine; the system also prevents corruption."
The Deputy Prime Minister added that moving forward, Sulaymaniyah governorate-affiliated offices and administrations must follow the same protocol.
"The person submits the transaction through one window, after which they receive the results," he said. "The citizen won't have to visit several rooms because the employee will handle all transactions, which will cut down on regular work, avoid corruption, and set the stage for future digital service delivery."
Sulaymaniyah Governor Dr. Haval Abubakr stated this about the system: "This method lowers routine, executes procedures quickly, removes any form of prejudice amongst citizens, and speeds up transactions."
"It will uphold the values of accountability and transparency while increasing citizens' faith in government institutions," he continued. "It will reinforce the ideals of a service government and the rule of law, save a lot of time for citizens, and put staff and offices at the service of citizens."
The Sulaymaniyah Governorate Office, the Income Tax Directorate, the Social Security Directorate, the Missing Persons Police Directorate, and the Business Tax Directorate will all proceed toward implementing the Single-Window system.
