Qubad Talabani in the meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister
According to Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, a comprehensive and long-term deal is the only option available to the two governments in Erbil and Baghdad, and prolonging the agreement is no longer in the interests of anyone.
Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani stated in a message:
The first and only option available to the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is a comprehensive and long-term agreement that complies with the constitution and is in the best interests of all Iraqi and Kurdish inhabitants.
In my meetings in Baghdad with Iraqi President Dr. Latif Rashid, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani, Mohamed Al-Halbousi, Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Ammar Al-Hakim, Leader of the Wisdom Movement, and Ahmed Al-Asadi, Labor and Social Affairs Minister, we emphasized the need to speed up our negotiations in order to quickly reach an agreement, particularly on the budget and the oil and gas law. Delaying the accord is no longer in anyone's best interests.
Services and welfare are in high demand throughout Iraq, notably in the Kurdistan Region. The agreement between Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region establishes a conducive atmosphere for both parties to collaborate in order to meet the needs of the public and enhance the provision of services.
We hope that relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad will greatly improve. I am confident that we can resolve many issues with the Iraqi government's current cabinet, which Mr. Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani leads.
