Qubad Talabani, the Deputy Prime minister of the Kurdistan Region, met with an American military delegation and the British consul to talk about reforms within the Kurdish Peshmerga Ministry, the recent political developments, and ties between Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region.
In a meeting with a U.S. military delegation and in the presence of U.S. Deputy Consul General in the Kurdistan Region on January 29, 2023, Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani praised the U.S. coordination, stating: "The United States has played a significant role in the reform process within the Peshmerga and reformulating the ministry's structure."
Additionally, he told the American delegation that "their counsel is needed to build a more organized and trained force."
Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani emphasized that nothing should interfere with the progress of the ministry's reforms.
Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani also met with the British Consul General to discuss recent political developments and the relationship between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad. The two sides emphasized the need for an agreement that ensures a radical resolution to the issues, so that the Kurdistan Region's legal obligations and rights are established.
